The U.S. public feels that the Casey Anthony trial left too many questions unanswered.

The Casey Anthony case of 2011 will definitely be on the news media highlight reel for 2011. Emotions from all over the country were ignited when she was found innocent of killing her daughter, Caylee Anthony. The trial itself will be remembered as one of the biggest ratings producer of the year, while the rhetoric of such notables as Nancy Grace, will be played until the public has had enough. But what ignited all of these emotions?

She Likes to Party All the Time

We see the picture of a party girl, seemingly not caring that her young daughter was missing, and still out partying and having a good time. While she may suffer from mental problems, most of the public does not see this as normal. Marry that image with one of a sexually abused Casey Anthony, and we begin to the see the formation of a possible defense to any allegation that she committed the murder. Surely, she must have been involved then? Possibly, especially given her retired policeman father might have assisted in the cover-up.

The Infamous Verdict

High Stakes “Clue”- In the Pool

The defense said it was an unfortunate accident in the family pool that cased the little girl’s death. However, this did not become the story until sometime after Caylee was missing. Even if it did happen, what self-respecting grandparent would not call the police and be distraught over the occurrence? Yet, Father Anthony was able to bury her in a shallow grave and leave her there, never to be found? I’m not buying that, and apparently neither did the American public.

Latest Casey Anthony

Casey has got quite an ordeal ahead of her. Now on probation, and dubbed the most hated woman in America, her life will be hard. Even shopping around book, movie, and interview deals will not absolve her of the guilt of her daughter’s death. That’s if she can even feel guilt anymore.

Now on probation in Florida, and with death threats pouring in, this party girl's life as she knew it is over. She'll be protected better than the Royal Family. And guess who will ultimately pay for that?

I did not follow this case closely and don't know all the facts, but you make a real point in your closing. I wrote about mother's who kill their children and would like to link this to that hub, if you have no objection.

Absolutely, I think that might help other readers.

...because most Americans believe in the judicial system only when the outcome goes to their liking. Guilty or not, the court has acquitted her and it's time to move on. I too, didn't watch the process and only watched the closing arguments. Amazing how good a perspective you can get when you only watch the closing. It's all you need to know and from watching both arguments, I easily concluded she would be found innocent. Remember, the openning arguments tell you what each side wants to prove or disprove, the closing arguments tell you what was actually proven or disproven. It's like the first and last chapter of a book. If you read those two chapters, you pretty much know what the story was all about. Perhaps the prosecution should have written better chapters inbetween.

I have followed this case from the very beginning. I think there was no doubt that she was guilty. I also think that she should have been found guilty but that's the way it goes. It's to bad she gets to live her life and her daughter doesn't. I also don't believe she was ever abused by her father. I think she was spoiled and just wanted her way and didn't want to bother with a little girl. I also think she wanted to get back at her parents just because she was mad at them. I also don’t think she is mentally ill. Poor little Casey just wanting her way, kill, cheat, lie and steal. I will never understand the jury that found her not guilty.

Completely ridiculous. I do not understand why she gets any protection at all, she is a nobody. If she wants protection then she should pay for it. She should have walked out of the courthouse without any protection as well. There is something definitely wrong with our laws when someone like this can walk.

This case caused very emotional responses in most people who kept up with the trial. I don't believe the defense proved anything, nor do I think they cast believable doubt on Casey Anthony's guilt. The defense "stories" were as wild, to me, as Casey's lies to the police during the investigation (which, by the way, delayed the finding of Caylee's remains until forensics were compromised--which seems to be Casey's intent).

Every time the defendent in a high-profile murder trial is pronounced "not guilty" when evidence proving otherwise seems to be abundant, it makes me think that juries should be educated in how to perform their "job" before the trial actually starts. They should be taught by a law professor for a minimum of one week intensive study so they will understand what evidence is relevant and valid...as well as what is not. Simply selecting 12 ordinary people and giving them the power to make such a decision without first giving them the proper training is not justice--it's crazy!

I followed this case for three years. The Anthonys live just a few miles away from me so this story hits close to home for many in Orlando. Casey was not found INNOCENT by the jurors, she was found NOT GUILTY. The jurors themselves admitted after the fact that she wasn't innocent but there wasn't enough proof for a guilty verdict. I'm sure the verdict would he different now once they realized there are no movie or book deals for them.

Linda, I think you're right. There's definately a fine line between saying NOT GUILTY and INNOCENT. Now that she has a new web presence on YouTube, maybe some of the truth will come out. Doubtful, but we can hope.

I believe this case infuriates a lot of people simply because they do not like her because she didn't behave like a loving mother. Trying to make logic of her illogical actions causes stress in people who would give their lives to spare their child's. As defined in the Urban Dictionary, stress is "the confusion created when ones mind overrides the body's basic desire to choke the living (bleep) out of some (bleep) who desperately needs it." I believe Casey induces this reaction and that is why the case, and she, infuriates people.

Ok, I think you've said it better than anyone. The American public pretty much just needs "to choke the living (bleep) out of" Casey Anthony!!
